Course Description
The Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (RSA Online) provides liquor service staff with the knowledge and awareness necessary to responsibly serve alcohol in licensed premises. It is a requirement for all persons who serve or sell liquor in licensed premises to be trained in responsible service of alcohol. This course meets the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training requirements and is valid in ACT, NT, SA, WA. The course also includes the option of completing the QLD OLGR RSA Certificate at no additional charge. Specific requirements for the other states can be found on our Responsible Service of Alcohol State Training Requirements page.
This course includes sections about:
- Sell or serve alcohol responsibly
- Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits
- Assess alcohol affected customers and identify customers to whom sale or service must be refused
- Refuse service of alcohol.
At the conclusion of this Online RSA course you will have a better understanding of facts about alcohol, legal responsibilities and duty of care, the fines and penalties associated with irresponsible service of alcohol.
This course includes progressive multiple choice assessments. Students are able to view the course materials as often as required and must achieve 100% in each assessment to pass the course. (Multiple attempts at the assessments are permitted).

Completion of this course leads to the issue of a Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate / Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency SITHFAB009A - Provide responsible service of alcohol. Students may also be awarded the optional QLD OLGR Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate by completing an additional multiple choice assessment task.

Responsible service of alcohol certificate training is required for persons employed in premises that sell or serve alcohol throughout Australia. Typical workplaces for RSA trained persons include hotels, licenced clubs, bar, restaurants, licenced cafes, detached bottle shops, nightclubs, packaged liquor outlets. Roles which require RSA training include licensees, approved manager's,staff, including promotional staff, involved in the sale, supply and service of alcohol, volunteers, including club directors, who have liquor service responsibilities and security officers with crowd control duties.

Requirement for Recurrent Training
Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate Training is valid for three (3) years after which time it must be redone.
