AVAOD509 - Drug and Alcohol Management Plan Supervisor

Course Description

The course is designed to meet the education requirements of Civil Aviation Safety Regulation 99.045 for Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP) Supervisor training and education. This is a modular course which provides students with more indepth knowledge of subjects contained in our Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Awareness course plus an additional module specific to the DAMP Supervisor training and education requirements. The aim of this course is to equip DAMP Supervisors with the skills and knowledge to be able to manage people within an aviation safety sensitive who are affected by alcohol or other drugs and to be able to assess when a reasonable suspicion AOD test needs to be conducted.

The subject areas covered in this course include:

• policy on drug and alcohol use; and
• drug and alcohol testing in the workplace; and
• support and assistance services for people who engage in problematic use of drugs and alcohol; and
• information about the potential risks to aviation safety from problematic use of drugs and alcohol; and
• management of people who engage in problematic use of drugs or alcohol.

This course includes a final multiple choice assessment which has an 80% pass mark

This course is narrated.

Accreditation

CASA does not have a system in place to approve Alcohol and Other Drug courses. The Australian Online College has obtained written acceptance of the comprehensive course outline used for this course from CASA and this course has been accepted as meeting the education requirements for DAMP Supervisors during audit.

Entry Requirements

Students must supply a current, valid email address in order to enrol in the course and must have access to a computer with:

• Broadband internet access
• Web Browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox Preferred)
• Email account access
• Flash 8 or higher player
• Sound card and speakers required for listening to narration

There are no formal educational requirements for entry into this course.

Students must have completed the Australian Online College CASR99 Alcohol and Other Drug Awareness course (AVAOD109) to be eligible to enrol in this course.

Career Opportunities

This course is a prerequistite for employees who perform the role of DAMP Supervisor within a CASR 99 DAMP organisation.

Time to Complete

You should allow four hours of uninterrupted time to complete this course and the multiple choice assessment.

Requirement for Recurrent Training

CASR 99.080 (1)(a)(iii) requires that Alcohol and Drug Awareness and DAMP Supervisor training must be completed at least every 30 months.

The full cost of this course is $60. GST is not applicable.
